
This summer, Chill Entertainment featured it's STUDIOSK8 installation at the Shops at Norterra, an open-air retail center located in northern Phoenix. For 10 weeks, STUDIOSK8 offered public skating, our CHILL Day Camps, parties and private rentals.
As a last minute promotional activation for the center, there was little time for pre-event marketing however management was able to include advertising in city parenting magazines, post to their social media and add the announcement to their marquee, which is located next to the main freeway 101 traveling north. Therefore we anticipated slow start when we opened our doors on May 18, but slowly, like a snowball, the interest continued to grow and by mid June we were in full swing, and booking parties on a daily basis.
A cute STUDIOSK8 feature was the private CHILL Suite available to guests for a special rate. With leather coaches, a mini-fridge stocked with water and it's own disco ball, it was a hit with the young teens, and even with families who used it as a mini oasis while their kids enjoyed the skating. Later we added some arcade games, a feature we intend to expand the next time around.
CHILL Day Camps also grew in popularity and were offered twice weekly. Camps were relatively short at just 3.5 hours but offered parents the perfect opportunity to get some shopping in, or enjoy a coffee with friends at one of the cafes nearby. Camps were open to youth ages 6 and up, and featured scheduled lesson activity, games, snacks and a parting swag bag, filled with CHILL branded items like the t-shirts and sunglasses worn by two of our happy campers shown in the photo.
Community groups especially enjoyed STUDIOSK8 and made regular visits to skate. Our special group rates made it an economical outing for the groups, always seeking such affordable activities during the summer. In fact, the affordability of our programs is what drew most parents to bring their kids each week. Customer satisfaction for STUDIOSK8 was high as reported by staff, and by mall management who received regular feedback from their social media. Excellent value, and a fun experience! We were so pleased to hear these responses because while we know that affordability is important, it means nothing if people don't leave with a smile. In addition to weekly promotions, we partnered with Groupon to issue additional coupon offers to ensure that parents didn't have to make cost the determining factor.
We look forward to returning to the Shops at Norterra in the future, and thank them for the opportunity to work with them and feature STUDIOSK8. We have already started planning for our next STUDIOSK8 adventure, which will include expanded arcade games, and boutique area. Until then, we'll be hosting STUDIOSK8 lessons and parties at our head office location in Glendale, AZ starting soon.
